I work with women affected by cancer who are tired, lack stamina and can't keep a thought in their head due to chemo brain. I help them feel more energised, build stamina and boost their brain power and memory so they can move forward in their lives with confidence.
I believe that women who’ve been through surgery, chemotherapy, radiation and hormonal or biological treatments need access to additional and dedicated support as their needs may be complex and not well catered for by mainstream medicine.
I believe that our health is not entirely predetermined by our genes and that the key to our wellbeing, how we feel and how we look, is the food we eat and the lifestyles we lead.
I believe that our choices matter.
Why I do what I do
So many women put up with feeling rubbish after they’ve been through treatment whilst trying to feel grateful for just being alive. They feel lost. They don’t have a map to guide them back to health.
I want to live in a world where women who’ve fought hard to be here get the support they need to feel well again.
How it all began
Having been through the devastation of a cancer diagnosis and treatment myself, it saddened me to see how little dedicated support is available to women trying to get their lives back on track once treatment has finished.
Add to that the fact that there’s so much conflicting information out there about what to eat and how to improve your health. It’s easy to feel confused and disheartened.
My cancer journey began in January 2013 when I was diagnosed with aggressive breast cancer at the age of 39. I had surgery to remove the tumour followed by 6 months of chemotherapy and 6 weeks of radiotherapy.
I emerged bald, bloated, frail and absolutely shattered. I desperately wanted to feel well again.
I had spent so many months reading and researching everything there was to know about cancer and from this research it became clear to me that there are many things we can do to support the body’s own natural healing mechanisms.
In an effort to recover from the toxic treatments, I chose to embark on the Gerson Therapy. This nutritional therapy, developed by Dr Max Gerson some 70 years ago, advocates nutritional nourishment alongside intense detoxification. It involved hourly juicing, coffee enemas and a strict organic whole-food plant-based diet. This was accompanied by numerous supplements. It was incredibly tough and I needed a lot of support to help me stick to it.
During this time I also enrolled on a 3 year diploma at the prestigious College of Naturopathic Medicine in London. Charlotte Gerson is a patron of the college and I felt at home there immediately. I devoted the next 3 years of my life to healing and learning.
Upon graduation, I felt drawn to helping others regain their health too, whilst working in a way that is supportive of mine.
And so, Healthier by Nature was born.
Before that ...
I led a very busy life before my cancer diagnosis. And if you’re reading this, I have a hunch you can relate. I’ve worked in publishing, financial services and also spent a number of years living abroad and teaching English as a Foreign Language, which I loved.
